Advent Carol Service

The annual Advent Carol Service took place on Sunday the 4th of December in the newly refurbished Abbey Church.
The service was very well attended by students and parents and was a fitting conclusion to a day that included the First Year Parents’ Dinner and the Senior Rugby Team taking home the Limerick City Cup (pictured above on the left). Several members of the Rugby Squad rushed back after the match to sing with the choir!

Several favourites were performed by the choir with Noírín Ní Ríain including Da Pacem Domine, Good King Wenceslas and Joy To The World.

There was also a beautiful solo by Grace Filip, a visiting teacher from Indiana who has been working in the school for the past few months.

Fifth Year student George Downing spoke briefly about the Kenya project supervised by Father John and about the millions across the world living in the darkness of poverty: “Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” A collection was held afterwards outside the church for the project.

Well done to Fr Columba and the choir for all their hard work and dedication over the past few weeks.
