Class of 2003 Reunion -Dunmore East -July 2013

The Class of 2003 held their 10 year re-union in Dunmore East on the last weekend of July. It was very well attended with around 25 of the Class there to mark ten years since departing Glenstal. Some of the lads had travelled long distances to be there which was greatly appreciated.

Captain and vice-Captain Neil Shee and Gordon Doyle put a lot of work into organising the reunion and it certainly paid off.

It didn’t take long before everyone reverted to form and it seemed like it was only yesterday that the lads were students in Glenstal. Good-natured slagging was at a premium and no one was spared. Lots of grossly- exaggerated stories did the rounds for the weekend and if half of them were true… they would still be hard to believe!!!  It was great fun to hear it all and there were many many laughs. All the great memories of the past came flooding out over the course of this very enjoyable weekend.

Leo McGrath and Br. Denis were invited to join the group and were given the Royal treatment by all the lads. Br. Denis in his short speech after the Dinner urged all of the group to keep in touch with one another. This was echoed by Leo McGrath.

There were lots of activities in the glorious sunshine for the entire weekend with swimming, tip rugby, clay shooting being enjoyed by all. Mark Coghlan claims to have scored the winning try in the tip rugby on the beach on Saturday afternoon but this is hotly contested by Lorcan Burke. James Hayes kept quiet about it all. Nothing changes…

The weekend went far too fast and was over before we knew it. It was great to see everyone again and there is even a suggestion of another reunion in five years. However, in the nearer future,Lorcan-Burke-and-Aiden-Hutch some of the group will be joining the wider Glenstal community at the Dinner in the Shelbourne Hotel on October 18th.

Great to see everyone lads. Great reunion. Great weekend.
