The Web Summit opens in Dublin today. It is the largest technological event in Europe and its founders are two former Glenstal Abbey School boys, Patrick Cosgrave and David Kelly, who both left in 2001.
It has been described by Forbes Magazine as “The new hot ticket in the world on the web conference scene”.
The opening bell for the NASDAQ Exchange will be rung at the Summit each day this week.
The sold-out Web Summit event has attracted 20,000 people to Dublin this year and is worth €100 million to the Irish economy.
Speakers this year include Bono, Drew Houston, the Founder of Drop Box, Werner Vogel, CTO of Amazon and a host of other world-renowned people in the world of I.T.
A group of lucky Glenstal TY’s will be attending the Summit and in the near future, Patrick and David will be coming to Glenstal to give a talk to the whole school.
