Fun Run

Glenstal Abbey School conducted a 5 km Fun Run on Sunday the 2nd of October through the grounds of the school and the environs of Murroe village. The event was extremely well supported by students and Parents alike. Students wore various attire ranging from kilts to boxing gloves and this greatly enhanced the spirit of the event. Lorcan Cruz even though he was injured completed the event in a wheelchair. The top finisher was Tim Murphy with a time of 22 mins and 46 secs. The remaining top five were Henry Farrell, Phillippe Harich, Peadar O Loughlin and Maccon Keane in that order.

Most importantly the event raised 500 euros for St Gabriel’s Centre in Dooradoyle which was due to the generosity of the students on the day.  St Gabriel’s School &  Centre is dedicated to the care and education of children with multiple physical disabilities. It is situated in Dooradoyle on the south side of Limerick city. It is a non-denominational organisation and a registered charity. From its humble beginnings over fifty years ago it has developed into what is today a modern, highly regarded, first choice disability organisation serving children and their families from across the mid west  region.
The St.Gabriel’s complex accommodates a special needs school, an outpatient therapy centre, a clinic of the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) a newly built hydrotherapy pool and a regional orthotics service (ROS). Pictures of the event are available in the Gallery section.
We would like to thank our students who participated and those Parents who found the time to do so also.
