GLENSTAL COME FIRST AT THE LIMERICK CHORAL FESTIVAL

By James Hanley and Justin Neville

On Saturday, the 3rd of March we competed in the Limerick Choral Festival held at St. Augustine’s Church, O’Connell Street. This year we took part in the Plain Chant Category and we were faced by notable competition, in particular N.U.I.G. Choral Society and the East Cork Male Choir.

Each Choir had to perform Veni Creator and also a piece of their own choice. After hearing the wonderful sound of both our competitors the Choir faced a monumental task. However, thanks to the hard work of Fr. Columba and the whole Choir throughout the year, we performed our pieces excellently.

The Judges remarks were very complimentary and we were delighted to take the Cup back to Glenstal for the second time.

The win is due to a total commitment from all members of the Choir. But in particular, we want to thank Fr. Columba for his dedication and hours of work with us all.
