Glenstal Extrava-geansaí

On Friday last, December 11th, the annual Christmas Jumper ‘Extrava-geansaí’ fund raising event took place. All staff and students of Glenstal Abbey School temporarily parted with formal attire for a more festive look, all in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital. From delicately designed knitwear, to Santa hats and suits, and the odd human powered wearable Christmas Tree (kudos to the Glenstal Science department), an array of festive fashion was on display throughout the school.

The festive buzz reached its climax as staff and students gathered in huge numbers for the inaugural ‘Staff Recital’, organised by Ms Hazel O’ Herlihy. This proved a tremendous success as staff from all parts of the Glenstal community took centre stage. A host of beautiful ballads, Christmas carols and original music mixes (Fr Columba, as ever, leading the way) with a touch of traditional tune and dance, provided the perfect mix to ignite the Christmas spirit in style, all in aid of a wonderful cause. Currently funds raised from the day look set to exceed €400.

Well done to all involved, 11 days to go!….. 🙂
