Glenstal Wins Two Bronze Medals in Young Economist

Eamonn Daly & I recently entered into the Young Economist of the Year Competition 2016

The premise for our project was the recent Oil Crisis and how it would affect the renewable energy sector of Ireland. After much hard work, we submitted our entry and the wait began to see if we had qualified.

Finally, after weeks of anxiously checking emails, we finally received word that we were short-listed for the National Awards much to our delight, which was to be held on Monday the 14 of March in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.

Finally the day of the National Awards arrived and we departed Glenstal at the unholy hour of 8.00am on Monday accompanied by Ms. O’Sullivan & her First Year class, who had also been short-listed for the Junior category. In typical Glenstal Boy Fashion, we arrived to the event a half an hour late!

After several talks from Guest speakers, the Prizegiving commenced with the Junior winners being announced first. With congratulations to Cillian O’Sullivan, Laurence Murray and William McDonald Hughes on receiving a Bronze Award Commendation Medal.

After a brief interval, the Senior Prizegiving took place. After several tense minutes it was announced that we had won a Gold Commendation Award & 3rd Place overall.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our project andLuke and Eamon especially to Ms.O’Sullivan for her constant support & guidance.
