Maths Success for Alex Acheson(1st Year)

On Thursday, March 3rd, the 1st year students took part in the Irish Junior Mathematics Competition. Fifteen challenging problems and calculations were presented and the students had forty minutes to solve them. After Round 1, there was nothing to separate Alex Acheson and Joe Gilbride who both scored 65 points. The students listed in the table below were among the highest scorers in Glenstal Abbey School and their names and scores were forwarded for accreditation.

After the accreditation process, Alex Acheson, Joe Gilbride, Ben Gambs, Ivor Larkin and William Browne were all invited to participate in the next stage of the National Competition. This took place in Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh on Friday, May 6th. Each of the boys received a certificate of participation and well done to them all on doing so well.
