Congratulations to the JCT on their fantastic win over Ard Scoil Ris in the Quarter Final of the Munster Junior Cup. It was nail-biting right up to the last kick of the game which Ben Healy converted to win by the narrowest of margins, 18-17
The game was played on the G4 pitch in U.L. Man-of-the-Match Johnny Williams scored Glenstal’s first points with a brilliant individual try where he crashed through what seemed to be half the Ard Scoil team. Ben Healy made the conversion.
With the minutes counting to the end of the game Ard Scoil were winning 17-10. With seven minutes to go Glenstal won their own line out, created a moving maul that Ireland would have been proud of and George Downing touched down. 17-15 was the score coming into the last minute of the game.
Glenstal pressed for the winner and were awarded a penalty for their efforts. Wisely they opted for the posts and up stepped Ben Healy. Cometh the hour cometh the man. Under huge pressure Ben hit the ball so sweetly that it split the posts to win the game.
The celebratory scenes were unabashed and the Glenstal supporters flooded the field to congratulate each and everyone of the players. It was one of the great days for Glenstal rugby and we are all looking forward with anticipation to the semi-Final. Details will be announced in the next few days.
Congratulations to all involved. There are photos of the game in the Photo section of this web site.
