On Wednesday 26th March, the Choral Scholars of Jesus College, Cambridge, gave a magnificent concert of European Sacred Music down the centuries in St John’s Cathedral, Limerick.
Our own school choir, along with the Gospel Choir of Limerick University, were, as prize-winners in the recent Limerick Choral Festival, privileged to have an opportunity to contribute some items to the same concert.
The boys sang a piece of plainchant, a medieval chant in two parts, and a three-part Russian chant. The following morning the whole school got to hear two items from the Cambridge choir, who sang in the wonderful acoustics of our new school atrium.
Later on Thursday night our choir had a shared rehearsal with the choral scholars, which was a priveleged and a memorable experience.
This video was taken when the Jesus Choir sang for the whole school community in the Atrium at break on Thursday, March 27th.
Hopefully, the video will portray some of the atmosphere created by this concert.
