Young Scientist Competition

Ivor larkinSecond Year student Ivor Larkin will take his science project to the BT Young Scientist Competition this week. Ivor has been fascinated by the effect of gravity on microorganisms and this formed the basis of his research project since early last year. Ivor’s project was one of several representing the school at the regional Scifest fair in Limerick IT in April and he won first place in his category.

Ivor continued working on his project and progressed the idea with the help of  the Shannon Biotechnology Centre at LIT where he had access to their excellent facilities and professional guidance.

Hats off to Ivor and his teacher Ms Costello. We wish him all the best in the competition. His class mates will be travelling up to Dublin to offer support.
