Garden Cemetery

I am struck by the sense of peace in this place

This is a common phrase one hears to describe Glenstal Abbey; this place we call home. We have been asked many times over the years about the possibility of burial at Glenstal Abbey. In response to this wish and, due to the growing number of people choosing cremation, the monastic community has created the Garden Cemetery

Thoughtful Planning

This thoughtfully planned garden cemetery is located next to the monastic graveyard and overlooks the Chapel Lake. A place of outstanding natural beauty, it serves as a place that reminds us of the garden from which we came and for which we long.

Choosing a cemetery and securing your memorial space is an important decision. Arranging the details in advance gives you peace of mind and shows thoughtfulness and a caring concern for your family.

We have endeavoured to make selecting and securing your place in the Garden Cemetery as simple and easy as possible. We also provide flexibility with options of a one-off payment or annual payments up to five years, with no additional costs.

FLEXIBLE OPTIONS

A monk from the Glestsal Community will be available to conduct the Rite of Committal from the Order of Christian Funerals unless the family would prefer to make other arrangements such as selecting a parish priest, for example.

The Garden Cemetery provides for the interment of your loved one’s cremated remains. A cemetery space can accommodate up to two urns. Each resting place is marked with a plaque of local grey granite for engraving individuals’ names and dates of birth and death.
