Location

Glenstal Abbey is located on the outskirts of Murroe village in County Limerick, Ireland. Our Eircode V94 A725 can be used for satellite navigation.
 
Driving from M7 Dublin-Limerick
Leaving the M7 motorway, take exit 28 for Castletroy. At the next junction (after Finnegan’s pub on the left), turn left onto the R506 to Murroe. Follow the signs and roads for Murroe. Upon entering Murroe village, at the junction turn left at the sign for Newport and for Glenstal Abbey. The entrance to the estate is on the first right, opposite the Pitch and Putt course.
 
Driving from N24 Road Waterford-Limerick
On the N24 Road coming from Tipperary, when entering Boher turn right on the L1132 to Murroe (next to O’Neill’s pub). Follow this country road until meeting Power’s pub at the junction on Abington Road. Turn right, then take the first left onto the L1125 at Abington CofI Church. Continue on this road until reaching the Five Cross Roads. Turn right and continue until the junction, turning left at the sign for Newport and for Glenstal Abbey. The entrance to the estate is on the first right, opposite the Pitch and Putt course.
 
Driving from Newport, Co. Tipperary
On the R503 heading east from Newport village, turn right onto the country road immediately after the GAA grounds. Continue on this road, passing the entrance to the Clare Glens. Before reaching Murroe village, the entrance to the Glenstal estate can be found on the left, opposite the Pitch and Putt course.
 
Public transport
The ‘Green Bus’ Route 300 M7 Express Service stops at Annacotty, whilst the ‘Air Eagle’ Dublin Airport to Limerick City coach stops at the Hurler’s Pub in Castletroy. Irish Rail services stop at Limerick Junction railway station, half-an-hour away. Taxis can be taken from these locations, but must be booked beforehand. If travelling to Limerick Colbert railway station, there is a 332 Bus Éireann bus which goes to Murroe village, stopping at the monument. A taxi can be taken from the village to Glenstal, or it is possible to walk around 30 minutes to the monastery. Please contact Monastery Reception for more information on taxi operators, etc.
